Margaret Fox Counselling DublinMargaret O’Connor

I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with BA (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.  I lecture in Psychodynamic Approaches for 3rd year students, Advanced Psychodynamics for 4th years, Advanced Skills and Ethics on the B.Sc in Counselling and Psychotherapy with PCI College. This honours degree is validated by Middlesex University. I work as a consultant for Dublin Rape Crisis Centre delivering training on issues associated with childhood sexual abuse and offering support in the aftermath of rape and sexual assault.  I also deliver Dignity at Work training dealing with bullying and harassment in the workplace.

Prior to working full time as a therapist I worked for 14 years in the community and voluntary sector.  I managed an outreach programme for men moving on from emergency homeless accommodation in Dublin. This gave me a deep understanding of addiction, trauma, relationship breakdown and mental health issues. I also managed outreach, mentoring and peer support programmes in the disability sector.

Working as a consultant trainer I developed and delivered bespoke training for organisations working with vulnerable adults including St Vincent de Paul, Merchants Quay Ireland, Ana Liffey Drugs Project, The Probation Service, Alone, Special Olympics Ireland, Citizens Information Service & Dublin Simon Community.

Before moving into the caring profession I worked for IBM as Software Group Sales Trainer in Europe,
Middle East and Africa.

My life experience is varied which enables me to connect easily with people from all walks of life.

Engage Counselling offers short term support with present day issues that are troubling you.  Working together you will find a better way of coping, find a new direction and make more positive choices for your life.

Engage Psychotherapy is generally a longer more in-depth process, which involves exploring parts of your past, present and future. It is potentially a highly rewarding process in which you can develop personally and make lasting positive changes.

I offer a secure professional relationship through which difficulties are identified and clarified. By engaging in therapy you will work through challenges, hurts or conflicts and consider moving forward towards a more positive future. Engaging with your own personal power will give new insight into the choices open to you and help you make changes in your life.

The exciting process of self-exploration helps to identify and change the patterns that are having a negative effect on your life. You will gain a greater sense of control through understanding your emotions and making changes to your thinking and behaviour patterns.

I am experienced in the areas of Anxiety, Depression, Anger Management, Relationship & Family Difficulties, Self Harm, Suicidal Ideation, Trauma, Addiction, Stress, Low Self Esteem, Bereavement, Bullying and Harrassment, Sexual Abuse and more…
